Meet Your Pediatrician Guide: Why I Created Ready Set Mom

Jul 02, 2025

Introduction

Hi! I’m Dr. Kristen Stanley 👋

I’m a board-certified, osteopathic-trained pediatrician, and for nearly a decade, I’ve had the privilege of caring for thousands of newborns and supporting families through one of the most meaningful experiences - becoming a parent.

Over the years, I noticed a pattern…

Despite all the books, blogs, and advice from well-meaning friends and family, many new parents still come to me with the same questions:

“Is this normal?”
“How do I know if something’s wrong?”
“What should I be looking for?”

And truthfully, these aren’t just questions about symptoms - they’re questions to help gain clarity and understanding. They reflect a deeper desire for trusted guidance that applies to real life, not just textbook knowledge.

Bridging the Gap: From Pediatrician Advice to Real-World Parenting

Medical visits are often brief - we're talking, on average, about 15 minutes. And while pediatrician tips for new parents are rooted in research and extensive training, I’ve seen how hard it can be to apply that information once you’re home - with a fussy baby in the overnight hours, or a diaper rash that first shows up on the weekend.

There’s often a gap between professional advice and the lived experience of new motherhood. That’s the space Ready Set Mom is designed to fill.

What "Ready Set Mom" Really Means

Ready Set Mom isn’t a rulebook.
It’s not about doing things perfectly or following one "right" way.

It’s a course - and a tool-kit - designed to help you feel grounded in the essentials of newborn care, while also developing trust in your own instincts as Mom. Inside, you’ll find evidence-based newborn care education organized and presented in bite-sized lessons that actually make sense for real life. Plus, I provide tips and resources to help make the most of your time with your pediatrician.

Because when you blend knowledge with maternal intuition, that’s when confidence grows.

And as a pediatrician, I’ve seen just how overwhelming those early newborn weeks can feel - and how much they shape what’s to come.

Here’s what Ready Set Mom stands for:

  • Ready = evidence-based preparation
Learn what’s common, what to watch for, and how to navigate the newborn stage with clarity rather than chaos. The goal is to help you feel equipped, not overloaded.
  • Set = trusting your maternal instincts
Every baby is different, and no one knows your baby better than you. This course encourages you to listen to your maternal instincts and filter out the noise.
  • Mom = confident, informed action
When you combine quality information with your unique connection to your child, you become a steady, responsive parent. That’s what confident caregiving looks like.

Ready Set Mom brings together clinical insights and day-to-day reality to support you through the moments that matter most, especially when the pediatrician’s office is closed or your next appointment feels far away.

What You Can Expect
